Ok here we go folks - back from my trip and showing you all my favorite spots this week.
I always get a certain feeling when I walk into this shop - Erica Tanov on 4th street in Berkeley. I can't quite describe it...it has to do with beauty and romance and feeling special : a sense of comfort and closeness to nature. This shop has just the right combination of clothing, jewelry, goodies for tiny tots, and home decor and it is all well-curated with an attention to detail. I have been to all the shops - NY, SF, and Berkeley and they all evoke the same mood. The perfect little button on the most precious floral print, the texture of a gorgeously knit sweater, the delicate handmade necklace, the feel of a hand-stitched quilt...
This time I was especially enamored of the dolls by Jess Brown - being the first time I had met these ladies in person. Definitely worth a trip.
Aack, thank you so much for posting on Berkeley! I visited a few years ago to do the flowers for a friend's wedding (at the Botanical Center) and instantly felt at home. I had ridiculously fattening waffles 2 mornings in a row at Fat Apples Cafe. I hope it's still there. I didn't have time to hit the shops, so this is great.
