another cute vacation idea from Living,etc...this one is "the shack" available through Vintage Vacations in the Isle of Wight. Love the chair with the fuzzy white pillow.
We have been having so much fun doing little hand-tied bouquets for the shop - ones that are fast and easy for customers to pick up. This one has pinky dahlias, berzellia, bee balm, Ambiance roses, coral hypericum berries, love-n-a-mist, and smoke bush (that feathery stuff).
I loved this series of shots of this room in the Anthropologie catalog. Never have I seen such a distinctive vision for a color story carried out. I usually don't like jewel tones but the mixture of that deep teal, with sapphire and peacock blue all accented with kelly and chartreuse greens is stunning. and the wood tones feel grounding. I think you would feel like you were under water in that room - magical.
Several months ago I visited this very special place in Battleground, Washington. Joe and Jermonne moved from Los Angeles a few years ago. They began building a vision - one that included a beautiful antique market, a home to set up shop in rural washington, and some farm animals. I new they had been building to get it all ready and couldn't wait to see what they had come up with. What a great find - an amazing collection of antiques out in the country - what could be more fun. And there is something so pleasing about shopping for vintage goodies with chickens scrabbling around your feet. Take special note of the picket fence chandelier amongst all the other eye candy. So they are back at it again with another event this weekend and I cant wait to see what's in store at Barnhouse...read more about it on their blog.
So I promised photos of the shop...ladies and gents pull up a chair - here she is...ink & peat.
I worked with Portland photographer John Valls who did a fabulous job helping capture the design and mood of the shop. We had fun pulling together little vignettes - moments if you will.
Thanks to everyone for all your support and to those who have come to visit...I hope you all will get a chance some day.
So wander through...(just imagine a Saijo Persimmon Voluspa candle burning softly in the background and you are there!)
So we are off to NY next Saturday for the gift show. Hard to judge what to buy since the shop has only been open 2 1/2 weeks but a neccessary trip. All the shoppers will be clammoring to get their Christmas goods - hard to think of when it is 90 degrees out - eh?
I love the whole experience - seeing all the designers who have worked so hard at their imaginative product lines, shopping Manhattan and Brooklyn...
I am already planning what to have for breakfast at Balthazar.
By the way if anyone has any tips on great new restaurants or shops I should see in Manhattan or Brooklyn email them along - I always appreciate it!
I will post while I am away so keep the thoughts coming!
