It always cracks me up...the t-shirts you see antique-geeks wearing at shows. Everyone runs around giddy with the thrill of the hunt hoping that their t-shirt will communicate more quickly what treasures they seek. I haven't resorted to this yet as the list would be too cumbersome..."buying chippy furniture, industrial, glass, pottery, and general fun stuff" doesn't make a cute t-shirt and beside I don't look good in Hanes - the neck is too tight. Maybe an American Apparel pink baby tee with scoop neck?
Anyway here are some pics from the antique fair. Again, I mention with a word of caution, for those who may get silly with excitement at looking at the piles of antiques to be had, this show is NOT for the faint of heart...waking at 5am and trudging through fields in the blazing sun (or rain last time) for 4 days and then struggling to get it all home. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed 90% of it! For those of you who decide this is for you - I'll meet you at the falafel stand at 2pm!
The highlight of the trip had to have been when my sis and I were having a casual dinner at the Thai restaurant and the couple next to us starts chatting about the day's finds, being a dealer vs. a shopper, and selling on ebay. Lo and behold, turns out we were chatting with Ron Keno - the father of the Keno brothers of Antiques Roadshow fame. He and his girlfriend were just the sweetest people - so charming and we felt as if we had had a real star sighting!
Here is how one of the tents looks at 6am - glowing with potential...
the cattle call at the opening of Heart of the Mart
a cute lil' juxtapostion of a vintage red scooter with a red dollhouse complete with picket fence
a pile of vintage glass doorknobs - this vendors has the most obscure parts all arranged in bins
a pile of dyed pink starfish - can't you just picture Rachel Ashwell going nuts over these?, fried dough sign - a New england treat, painted turquoise and red finials, giants sponges
neat old signs and a pile of guitars
a vignette of one of the booths - notice all the shoppers conferring with their business partners via celll phne and walkie-talkies on their finds
Amazing images.. wow, what a place!!

What a beautiful day! I can't get over the blue, bright skies so early in the morning. But the real gem is your keen eye! Just look at all of those treasures...
I hate to be so cheesy, but I just love this country.
