Last weekend I was so fortunate to meet and have brunch with the lovely and talented Heather Moore of Skinny Laminx. Heather designs all sorts of textiles - tea towels, pillows, decor fabrics, aprons, and now kids cloths in her studio in Capetown South Africa. ink & peat has carried Skinny Laminx since we were first open and I absolutley love her sense of pattern, color, and whimsy. Have you bloggers exerienced this - you may have know someone through blogs for years but somehow once you meet them in person it becomes "real"? You feel like old chums even though you have never met them. Gotta love this crazy blogging world and how it brings folks together. We will have a nice stock in of Heather's tea towels and cushions in a few weeks!

Love this poster called Friends of Violet over at Bodie & Fou. Studio Violet is a collaboration between Swedish designers Camilla Engman and Elisabeth Dunker. I love all the quirky little characters, textures, and colors. So charming...

We have carried Sugarboo for about 6 months now at ink & peat and it has been such a pleasure. Rebecca is such a talented artist - her sense of color and whimsy always brings a smile to customer's faces. These  prints are so well done with rustic barnwood frames.

I am a HUGE fan of Sibella Court. I have poured over her book "etc." more times than I can count - feeling the perfect crispness of the paper, drinking up the sensial colors she chooses, and marveling at her well-curated collections of curio. I snapped up "The Stylists Guide to NYC" only a few weeks before my trip and as per her ususal, discovered you don't really need to be going to NY to enjoy this book. It is a visual feast. If you are going - some of my very favorite plavces are in there all gathered up. Some things are eerie, who knew the chopped salad at Barney's was one of her perennial favs too? NY bound or not you will enjoy this book. And we are so thrilled to get her newest book Nomad to sell at ink & peat in a few months.

modern organic

Love the job interior designer Jessica Helgerson did on remodeling Wildwood restaurant in Portland, Oregon. It really modernizes the space. The wood tones and grey walls are a great pairing. Those fabulous organic ceramic lamps are by artist Heather Levine of Los Angeles.

wings for napping

I popped in to West Elm over the weekend and fell in love with this chair. The Ellery chair seems to no longer be available online but they do have it in store. It is lowish so comfy for more petite folks and has a classic wing shape. We were teasing that the wings are at the perfect height to mimic those bendabe wings that you have on an airline seat. Much more stylish though. Put a cute graphic pillow on there and you're all set!

a pause for tea

Woke up this morning and heard the rain. Pulling myself from tiny tendrils of dreams, I wander around. Sit. Wander around. While being an independent store owner can be wonderfully rewarding, it also can be exhausting. Today I officially hit the wall. Since it is my day off, I decide to camp out on the couch and go through old design magazines with the sweet, smoky scent of Royal Apothic's High Tea candle burning in the background. A pot of jasmine tea is in order to wake the scenses. I brew it in my Japanese iron pot and serve the tea in my DBO Home ceramic handle-less mug. Ahhh that's better. Simple luxury.

I have always loved the look of industrial metal and glasss windows. they can be so fabulous as patio doors to open in the summer or even as shown here in the bathroom - so lovely.

ready for spring

With all the rain today and the forecast of snow (in February??) for thursday, I am loving these sweet little watercolor paintings by Sarah Storm. Just the right thing to make a girl's mind wander to grassy meadows with birds chirping!
