Doesn't this look lovely? It's a new restaurant in L.A. called Tavern. It was designed by Jeffrey Alan Marks. I love the idea of this solarium dining area and the understated elegance of the furnishings. Love those drum lamps with the metallic interior that creates a warm glow - any ideas on the lighting maker? Ok, so I will have the "elderflower blossom" cocktail and "summer fruit salad with marcona almonds" to start, then follow it with the "summer squash gratin", and for dessert "ricotta cheesecake with black mission figs"....how about you?

sunshine + grey

Here are some pics from 1 of the weddings we did this month (we did 7). It was one of my favorite color combos - yellow and grey. The bride wanted something very eclectic and modern. We did her bouquet and 3 bridesmaids using echeveria succulents, Little Scottie pom-pom dahlias, billy buttons, Limoncello spray roses, yellow kangaroo paws, and dusty miller. it was all accented with grey grosgrain ribbon. Hope you like it!

pumpkin love

We are having so much fun with these velvet pumpkins in our shop! They have been selling like hotcakes! We were actually re-stocking them in the middle of our party! I love the unique colors that Daria has - some of my favs are lagoon, chartreuse, and cinnamon. Don't worry, we will have plenty for fall and even some soft and frosty colors for your holiday table. I love this pic taken by Indie Rocket - captures their whimsical mood delightfully.

Well we had a fabulous time at our 1 year anniversary party last night! Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate! I feel a bit pooped after the NY Gift show, 8 weddings (pics next week), receiving and setting the Fall shop and our party, but really encouraged by the start of the fall season! Here is a great pic from Rebekah (of Little Byrd) of her fabulous reclaimed sweater hats we have back in the shop for fall. They look so sweet on and I love all the floral details.

While trolling trough the West Village on our NY trip we happened upon this little shop - Aedes de Venustas. It is dark and moody and full of exotic and wonderful fragrances - perfumes, candles, powders...I love this eclectic window display with shades of burgundy and chartreuse green. The interior features some fabulous old apothecary and metal cabinets.

In addition to carrying one of my favorite lines - Santa Maria Novella- they also carry this amazing line of candles - Cire Trudon, a French perfumer and candle maker which has been around since 1643. At Aedes, each candle is displayed under a belljar so when it is lifted the trapped essence wafts toward your nose - delightful. Scents include Odeur de Lune, Odalisque, and Dada. Visiting is real indulgence.

new friends and old

We set the fall product on the floor yesterday! For those of you who are fans of the Kate Durkin owl stuffies - they're back! And they have some new friends too - these adorable whales. As always they are handmade by Kate Durkin and each has a different pattern on the back - what fun!
