my friend hazel

I discovered a new friend at the wholesale market last week. These stunning branches are witch hazel. They have the most interesting charteusey-yellow blossoms - very dramatic.

Hi Pam and Housemartin gang. Is there a gang? there must be to run the flower shop.

Yes the witch hazel is indeed dramatic. It creeps me out a bit. It reminds me to much of spiders. I dont have that reaction to spider mums or fuji mums but those things appear ah - very spidery. That is strange. i have never been creeped out by a plant. Oh well. it must be my spider aphobia

Love it! The cotrast between the dark lines and delicate yellow flowers is soo dramatic!

Wow, I never knew that witch hazel was so beautiful. You do some amazing work. I'm glad I stumble on your blog through a LWL blog search.

Super dramatic. Very cool.

I saw that in someone's yard the other day, and was immediately taken with it, so glad you posted about it! I asked my Frank Adams rep to send me some flowering branches today, so maybe this will be there..ohh, I hope!

I love that witch hazel! So dramatic but not fussy. Did you find it at Swan Island by any chance?

gah! witch hazel is my favorite! and your simple presentation packs the maximum impact.

i love to see these branches when the weather is especially gloomy - the vibrant yellows take me somewhere else, usually until the wind smacks me in the face again.

that is one of the few shots of color we get here in the western north carolina mountains in winter-I love it!

Wow! I would never thought that witch hazel could look so beautiful!
